North Devon Feed Buying Group

Kelly Farm Consulting run a range of Feed Buying Groups for farmers across the South West of England.

We have had some initial interest in setting up a new Feed Buying Group covering North Devon.  If you are interested to hear more about how this works, and the benefits to your farming business, please complete the Expression of Interest form below and we will be in touch as soon as we have a date for an initial group meeting.

The Benefits of Group Buying

As a farmer, you understand the importance of providing high-quality feed to your livestock. Joining a feed buying group that offers regular quality control testing, sets minimum specifications for feed, and provides buying power can be an incredibly advantageous move for your dairy operation. Here are the key benefits of becoming a member:

  1. Quality Control Testing: By joining a feed buying group, you gain access to regular quality control testing of the feed products. This ensures that the feed you are using meets the required standards for optimal nutrition. With consistent testing, you can have peace of mind knowing that the feed you purchase is of high quality.

  2. Minimum Feed Specifications: All of our feed buying groups set minimum specifications for all products, ensuring that the nutritional content meets the specific needs of dairy cows.  Outside of our groups, we very often see dairy cake declared as 18% protein and 12.5 ME, but on testing we find it to be significantly below this.  There is a legal tollerance of 10% on protein, but no legal tollerance on ME!!

  3. Buying Power: One of the significant advantages of joining a feed buying group is the collective buying power it provides. By consolidating the purchasing power of multiple farmers, the group can negotiate better prices with feed suppliers. As a result, you can access high-quality feed at a reduced cost, ultimately contributing to cost savings for your farming operation.

  4. Expert Guidance: Beyond the benefits of quality control testing and cost savings, joining a feed buying group also provides access to expert guidance and support. The group has acccess to expertise on best feeding practices, nutritional requirements, and emerging technologies in the feed industry, helping you optimize your herd's health and productivity.

  5. Networking and Collaboration: Joining a feed buying group creates opportunities for networking and collaboration with other dairy farmers. By connecting with fellow members, you can share insights, experiences, and best practices related to everything farming. This collaborative environment can be invaluable for gaining new perspectives and improving your overall farming practices.

  6. Streamlined Buying Process: Being part of a feed buying group simplifies the buying process. Instead of individually sourcing feed suppliers and negotiating terms, you can leverage the group's established relationships and processes, saving you time and effort in sourcing the necessary feed for your farming operation.

Overall, joining a feed buying group that prioritises quality control testing, sets minimum specifications for feed, and provides buying power offers  farmers a range of benefits, including assurance of feed quality, cost savings, expert guidance, networking opportunities, and streamlined buying processes.

Don't miss out on the advantages that a feed buying group can offer to your farming operation. Submit your Expression of Interest below and to learn more about the positive impact it can have on your feed procurement practices and overall farm management.
