Trainee Agricultural Consultant

Overview

Kelly Farm Consulting is an agricultural consultancy practice working with Dairy, Beef, Sheep, Goat and Arable Farms across the South West. We have no ties with the supply trade, and we never take supplier commission. This means we sell no feed, or any other physical products allowing us to be completely independent and unbiased.

 

We are looking for a practical, motivated person to join our team as a Trainee Agricultural Consultant. You will be learning the job directly from an experience consultants, covering all aspects from Soil and Silage sampling through to helping draft reports analysis farm data and preparing budgets and grant applications.

 

This is a long-term role for someone who wants to develop a wide range of skills and build a genuine career in farm consultancy through hands on learning and mentoring rather than classroom study.

 

You will be working with our small team of 10 people based at our offices at Aust, near Bristol. Regular travel to Clients farms will be required across the South West of England.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Join Consultants on farm visits and meetings and assist with follow up work

  • Take Forage, Soil, Slurry, Water and Feed samples and submit to the Laboratory

  • Record results and analysis data to prepare Client reports and follow up notes

  • Assist with data entry and analysis

  • Liaise with Suppliers, Clients, and other Professionals

  • Attend and support events, Farm walks, and Trial works

  • Take on more responsibility as your knowledge grows, eventually leading to taking on your own Client work
     

Who We are Looking For

  • Generally interested in UK Farming and Rural Business

  • Practical, reliable, and ready to get hands on outdoors as well as in the office

  • Good with people and comfortable communicating with farmers

  • Organised and willing to learn

  • Confident using Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Full Driving Licence
     

No formal qualifications are required as we will provide all the training and the support you need. What matters most is enthusiasm, curiosity, and a good work ethic.
 

Progression

You will receive full on the job training working closely with experience Consultants. Over time, you will develop into an Independent Consultant advising your own Clients on Nutrition, Farm Management and Business planning.
