All the latest news

From Kelly Farm Consulting

The window for BPS applications is now open and will remain so until the 15th of May 2023. As you will all be aware, BPS will continue to reduce this coming year. However, it is still important to ensure that applications are filled in correctly with accurate cropping.

The opening of the BPS application window also coincides with the opportunity to submit Countryside Stewardship revenue claims. This window also runs until the 15th of May 2023 for submission of claims without penalty.

Although Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier is already open, please note that the Countryside Stewardship Mid Tier and Wildlife Offer application windows do not open fully until the 21st of March. We have already received a large amount of interest in these schemes, and we have been recommending that any clients worried about the loss of BPS consider the Countryside Stewardship scheme as a strategy to supplement that lost income.

If we usually assist you with your BPS and/or Countryside Stewardship claim’s we will be in touch shortly to arrange a date to meet with you. If you have any queries, or wish to discuss a new Countryside Stewardship application or renewal, please get in touch with the team.

We are very pleased to announce that the RPA have now removed the budget limits for capital items in each of the 4 Capital Grants Scheme themes.

  • Boundaries, trees and orchards

  • Water quality

  • Air quality

  • Natural flood management

Previously, each of the themes had been limited to £20,000, with the maximum application value being £80,000, so it is very welcome news to hear that this no longer applies!

Applications will continue to be available all year round and will be assessed to ensure they provide value for money.

If you are interested in applying for the Capital Grants Scheme, get in touch with a member of our team!
